What is this file? I see it getting passed around in zip files a lot but I've never heard of it mentioned anywhere and I want to know what it is.

It's cached thumbnails of the images.

I believe Windows makes these files by default. Of course I set mine not to.

When you extract them from the archive, you'll see (pun) that they are hidden files.

Hidden properties obviously aren't shown in the archiver.

Don't worry, it's not executable. It's just the images in the folder auto-resized into a single file called Thumbs.db, which is for the Thumbnail view.

MS really shouldn't of used the dll icon though.

And you could of easily found this on Google, it's a popular oddity in Windows.

Oh. I was thinking this was some Re-Volt-specific phenomenon.

Just think of them as .tmp files for thumbnail images.
You are free to delete any and all you come across.
