even if I turn off windows firewall i need to pass through the network firewall (network proxy) to get internet access. I was asking weather there was a way to specify the proxy settings in rv house.

No.

And I don't think Re-Volt supports any proxy settings anyway. It requires direct connection between the players, that's why if you have NAT you have to forward the used ports to come to the machine that is playing. Having some sort of proxy-from-hell by the ISP between clients and internet sounds like a total disaster.

RV House is alive, it's people who are dead.

Do you have the newest version of RV House? The server used has been changed, so with older versions you will see very empty house indeed as the server is not there.

Just a small notice to those of you who help new guys from time to time:

When RV House gives you a "Could not launch Re-Volt" error, this isn't necessarily because the path to Re-Volt is missing in the registry. If a Launcher string is existent in the registry pointing to for example WolfR4 and the user happen not to have the WolfR4 executable anymore, this can trigger the error as well.

To sum up, AFAIK Could not launch Re-Volt happens either:
- When Re-Volt hasn't been run at least once before trying to play online over RV House. (No registry entries are created pointing to where Re-Volt is located)
- When the "Launcher" entry inside [HKLM > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > DirectPlay > Applications > Re-Volt] points to a non-existant WolfR4 or similar launcher executable.

Just a FYI from me since I helped a user with that exact issue not so long ago - it was only by accident that I found out about the Launcher entry.

EDIT: Off-topic, but would it be appropriate if Re-Volt 1.2 deleted the launcher entry automatically besides changing Path/Filename entries as usual? That would fix this problem at least.

RV HOUSE CLOSING AUTOMATICALLY
...without me wishing it to. Apparently, sometimes RV House closes from itself, without me exiting manually. It happens while I play something, I enter the game with RV House open and sometimes I don't find it in the Window bar anymore. It also happens when on desktop. It simply closes like when I'd click the red X. What's this?

It's a bug that has something to do with rvhouse not liking links unless they have the http:// in them. For example, www.thislinksucks.com would clear the chat, but http://www.thislinksucks.com would send you to an actual site and leave the chat unharmed.

Well, I guess now is as good of a time as any to mention this, but when Dave and I are in RVHouse at the same time we both get a bunch of miscellaneous spam that usually looks something like this> http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/8979 ... roblem.jpg as you can see by the size of the scroll bars there is quite a lot of random garbage and repeating text there. PLEASE let us know if there is something that can be done. Thank you.

Stupid browser crashing. Anyway...

I'd like to add that my router's ports are forwarded correctly and that I let RV and RV House through my firewall. However, my internet connection doesn't seem to like RV House much (or being reliable, for that matter.)

Hey there,

Ive been having some problems in getting online play to work, I unlocked all the ports, disabled my virus scanner and firewall, and was ready to play, but it didnt work, just a black screen. I even disabled all the firewall and protection stuff entirely for a few minutes to see if it would work, but nothing. Also tried DMZ...didnt work

Cant seem to get it to work. What else can I try?

My OS is Windows 7 64 Bit, my Revolt version is 1.2 beta...

Thanks!

Perhaps RVHouse should explain how to set up re-volt or open up the connection docs on the first run for new players. It would probably save them a lot of confusion, if you ask me :)

Considered, but it's pretty low on priority as the text can be copy pasted to editor and searched from there.

Apologies for a doublepost, but I've got something to say...

I've gotten a little sick and tired of seeing new players in RV House constantly coming in and asking how the thing works. It seems that these people can't read manuals or something. So, then I went to read the help docs on RV House's site... and... I could barely read them!

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I updated the help docs to RV House because they're roughly 5 years old, and things have changed a bit. arto, would you mind looking these new docs over and putting them on the site?

Get 'em here.

Exactly the same for me. Sometimes it exits right after login and other times it exits randomly. It gets fixed when I delete the kadc.ini, but I have to do this twice a month, or maybe more often.

Put "del C:\Path\To\kadc.ini\" in %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
as a .bat file
Or alternatively try making various rv house file read-only, it worked out for me

Yeah, you can try as jackieben said. If I understand, putting file in ...\Startup will launch when windows starts, so it will delete "kadc.ini" everytime you turn on PC, am I right?

Yesterday I wrote a small fix which only deletes that file, you can download it if you want:
Download Just open it and press any key, that's it ;).
It's basically a MS-DOS Batch (works for windows), which deletes that one file. If you have RVHouse installed in default dir, then you will have no problem, if different, you will have to change it (help inside downloaded archive).

kadc_start(c:/prgm files/rvh/conf/kadc.ini, return error 3:overnetinifileread() failed -4.

and rvh closes. i've been just unistalling and re-installing to get rvhouse to work. after i shut down at night i get error again when trying to run rvh.

HAXXX!!!
Actually that's bad thing, ban these mother***kers.

Btw, I can launch a few RV House instances and connect with same login, when holding enter key, about 10 copies runs without message of "RVHouse is already running" and that means, i can make my "zombie army". Of course, to do that, rvhouse mustn't be running. (I think that also could depend on PC speed, mine is slow :banghead: )

Yes, the detection is really basic and things like that are very possible. It could be made more robust with a little work but I don't see much point in it. Behave people :).

Well I have to say that RV House has very trivial protection against such abuse. I expect people to behave. There is always the "ban that guy" option which I'm somewhat a fan of when people do abuse. Post here time and dates of the fake appearances and I'll see if something can be done to it.

Exactly the same one here. I took this screenshot in August, forgot to post it before. It's on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit here. mmud's one is on Windows 7 32-bit.

What it does? It cause RV House to stop working.
When pressing "Abort" button, RV House closes completely.
When pressing "Retry" or "Ignore" button, RV House will close its main window but a rvhouse.exe process will keep on memory, so until you close it with the Task Manager, RV House can't be opened again.
Frequency: once or twice per day.
