Hey again! I want some help regarding playing via RV House. I always seem to find myself alone in the lobby when I host. Is there some reason behind this? Also, I find that when ever I enter a race with any amount, 3 or over, usually half of them don't connect. Anything that might be causing this? It seems like our only means of playing against each other could be a little more reliable...

You might have some firewall/router/NAT settings wrong.

Unfortunately RV House can not automatically fix user's firewall or router or NAT settings. RV House does what it can to help in the connection problems caused by Re-Volt, by providing the lightning arrow in Room window. If a player failed to join a game that was just started, he can press the yellow arrow to retry.

No, after 2 or 3 minutes in RV House, my name shows up as blue, which I believe means that the firewall isn't restricting access.

Maybe more people should try hitting that arrow instead of just saying "I crashed" and then leave. When I crash I try again, then don't try a third time because by then, the race has probably started.

It's a good indication... but it's a good indication mainly for RV House. Your firewall/router might still be causing problems for Re-Volt.

Common mistake, seen especially with hosting problems, is forgetting to give Re-Volt access to that one TCP port (47*** something).

I am also having problems with RV House. Whenever RV house executes re-volt to join Multiplayer, I get an error message saying "CRC Checksum error" and "Can't connect to lobby". I even disabled the firewall and tried to join but no luck. Anyone has any idea what's going on?

CRC checksum can be gotten rid of by making Re-Volt run in Win98 compatibility mode. Just right click on Re-Volt and select "Properties". It should be there.

Can't connect to lobby means usually that there is some router/firewall settings that need to be changed.

Tried that too. But didn't work. It used to work in past though. :(

Ok this isn't RV House fault that I'm not being able to join the game. Some configuration is not right in my computer. When I tried to connect through IPs I couldn't connect either.

I think the ports were blocked by Antivirus. I have open the port and hope it will work. But now RV House is not letting me in. It says "Invalid User ID or Password". It can't be invalid since I was using it yesterday...

The login server was having problems earlier today, probably related to that.

This sounds very much like a problem caused by NAT. Or router. If it's router you may be able to fix it by creating port forwarding rules.

I've tried disabling firewall, opening all ports from my antivirus and lots of stuff but still it doesn't work. It says Can't connect to lobby. I don't have router. My antivirus is McAfee VirusScan verion 8.0i Enterprise edition.

Disable the AV and other FW (fu**ing xp-fw also) when gaming.
Also DirectPLAY libraries need to access the net to join sessions.
When gaming, if a perfect config is not still reached, disable ALL!

Haha.
Well, arto, I know that people don't see my name in brown, although some NATed people can join races, although I haven't seen them host any races. And, if it is a NAT or the router, then wouldn't I be blocked from both joining and hosting? Please explain.
Thanks,
APM

Not necessarily. That's not the way NATs work. See here for explanation of how NAT works:
