Hello fellow revolters,
I have the original cd of revolt and would like to load it but windows 8 doesn't recognize the .exe file for the setup. Has anybody have a workaround or hack that might work.

Windows 8 doesn't recognise the original Re-Volt installer? What???

The only solution that comes to my mind is to send you the game files zipped so you just extract-and-play. If you install the Patch 1.2 it will also work with the original CD-ROM so you can listen to the music. Click on the blue links to download.

Re-Volt

Patch 1.2

Also, don't run the game without patching. Windows 8 requires you to use the latest version of v1.2. When you finish patching, make a shortcut to revolt.exe and right click it. Go to Properties, Shortcut tab.

In the Target line, add the following commandline at the end:

-emulatefullscreen

For example:

...Acclaim\ReVolt\revolt.exe" -emulatefullscreen

This will improve the FPS of the game in Windows 8.

Cheers.

Maybe he was talking about Windows 8 being unable to Autostart the CD?

If thats the case then you'll have to manually start the setup over the explorer.
If you really meant that Windows 8 can't start the Setup then maybe you should try launching it with Compatibility mode enabled (right click exe and set the compatibility flags).

If all that didn't work then its probably best to get the files from Phantom :P
