RVHouse UI was designed to resemble the IRC channels interface. Remember that RVHouse was born under the concept of "chat&play" program, so it is basically a chat room where you can also play re-volt online.

IRC, on the other hand, is simply a chat room. I believe it was used to arrange games back in what we could probably call Re-Volt's stone age, but:
1. RVHouse makes it a lot easier to arrange a race now,
and
2. Nobody in IRC wants to race anyway
