I did the 1st 4 sets of notes and still managed to not figure out the 'Max Pos' parameter for the wheels...once LB explained it(in ver5), it was obvious :). as I said to LB, I'll leave it in more capable hands(though I may make comments :)).

Okay changing topic.

@Zach: Are you alive?

We are waiting until you say something about RVZ. Will you finish uploading the missing tracks and cars? Will the needed improvements described in the RVZ Suggestions thread be done someday?

RVZ now lacks from a lot of stuff that already was in RVZT and if you wait to the next year, people will start reuploading old stuff manually which is not right. The uploaders will appear as Authors. So I think it is better to wait until you finish uploading what is missing before we continue with the Repacking project. But.. are you going to do this? Should we keep waiting for you? No?

Also, Vaid got his computer again, so the repacking can re-start. However the order we were following has been screwed up, I hope TheWayBackMachine can be a solution for that. Or now that I'm thinking we can follow the RVZ IDs as a new way to order stuff.

I hope you throw an answer someday. Greetings.

I am getting the notion that the zone doesn't like me, 99.9% of the time my 'uploads' stall at 1% complete...with no error messages or any other reason given.

Why wasn't the FTP server made available to the public? I mean it would suck to navigate a bunch of links in a text-only page, but all of the content could have been uploaded to the FTP for users to access outside of the Re-Volt Zone page while all of this madness had been going on.

Far as I am concerned, RVZ has been a massive failure in content transfer to a new place because no redirects had been given. Before automation took place, all of the IDs of each item on RVZT should had been recorded, so that when the pages for each new item using previously-available content are created, an appropriate redirect for it could had been made.

And no, Wayback Machine didn't crawl on all RVZT pages so archive.org's tool is useless.

Because you can break the site. The FTP server hosts EVERYTHING. It would be idiotic to let that public. Stop talking about what should have been, and what should have happened. If you want some change, feel free to do something about it.

I agree.

Just say how and many of us will be willing to do something, but what you say is merely abstract since only zach can fix most issues. If we don't get any single answer we start thinking that nobody gives a pooh about it.

I was more so speaking directly to Electric since he's known for that, at least to me anyway.

Okay Zach, you may see this post someday.

We all know that there are a lot of things to fix in RVZ. And that you have limited time, and this situation probably won't change until who knows when. So.. I want to focus on the priorities, those things that require a more urgent attention in the little time that you may have.

What are the things that users dislike the most about RVZ?
- First, the way that it opens links, specifically the impossibility to open items in new tabs.
- Second, the lack of old content and the bad way that it displays old content (previews).

What are the things that drives us moderators nuts?
The impossibility to edit important things in order to fix issues, specially after an item is edited.

Before an item is edited:
- Add the possibility to edit Author names and synchronize content with certain accounts, also the ability to turn author names into links even if author is not registered in order to make the search system efficient, specially for those old users that don't have RVZ account. We moderators can do that job, but we need the option for that first.

After an item is edited:
- Show original track date in track page always. Please for the love of god, we need you to understand that the updated date is not as important as created date. With Vaid we discovered that the original date still exists in database when searching, but isn't displayed in track page.

The situation as it is right now: after Updated, the created date tag is replaced by the updated tag which is irrelevant and pretty much ruins the layout. It should show only the created (or both created & updated if you insist), but never replace the original date in track page. Reason is obvius: The most important thing that users want to know is the original release date of a track, not the date that the track was fixed or added to this site. Re-Volt XTG has clear and valuable info about this, it has all the correct dates for the tracks ordered chronologically and we are planning to fix those, but we can't do it if tracks will display '2014' for every old stuff we add or edit. It's nonsense. We are just going to fix what should have been done in the past and this is going to be done randomly this year. But they are not going to be 'Updated' in 2014.

Thanks for understanding.

Dislike this one too, but you actually CAN open it in a new tab by using Ctrl+Click ;)

Because it was recently fixed . With track list it still doesn't work (search), but I'm pretty sure this will be sorted out soon too.

[Edit]: New tabs now works on track list.

I've already noticed it today, but I think it's not a good way to fix this issue.
At the moment of my previous post it worked, just cuz my browser is having this feature, but now it's kind of "overfixed" for me... Now my browser opens two equivalent tabs at the time... <_<

Can you make it by a middle click, please? It will be more handy rather than using a Ctrl anyway...

It doesn't here. Both middle click and ctrl + works perfectly fine. Firefox.

Ohh, yeah! Thanx. Just didn't realize that after update it's just a regular links in a search results... :)
Edit: BTW, Ctrl+Click is still "overfixed" to me...

Ok, I compiled a list of files that are corrupt that I have found so far. There will be more, I'm afraid.

http://revoltzone.net/badfiles/index.html

If anyone want's to tackle the list (or part of it), claim your range (ie. 1-10) so no one else does those and go for it!
Many are very simple, such as a png image that just needs to be changed to a jpg. Some of the files not listed use the same folder as already existing tracks/cars, so I will need to go through them manually... Like I said, there will be updates, maybe when one list is completed I can release the next list. Hopefully that won't be overwhelming.

Do NOT upload the fixed files to RVZ. Instead, send them to admin@revoltzone.net or post them here and send me an email to let me know you've got them ready. Please do not change the file name if possible. Thanks again,
Zach

I can't remove the archive from the server, but can hide it.
Anyway, the track or its RVZ page won't be accessible, unless you have a direct link of it (in your quote, for example).
