Hello peeps,

I have a problem with my haunted mansion track, the problem is when I export to .ase,

it says-

PANIC: Vertex normal1183 isn't normal, but 0

D:\Re-Volt AInodes\levels\haunt_mans>pause
Druk op een toets om door te gaan. . .

And I know that there are damn many objects :)

I worked long on that track!

But how to fix this problem?

I only used vertex colors at Plane01, which shaded the trees in the track.

greetings and thanks,

R6

Just a global suggestion as I have never used any of the tools you're working with... You should 1st try to identify the problematic object.
So dichotomize the list of obects until you find it: First export the first half of your objects list, if there is no problem, try to export the second half. If there is a problem, cut this list in 2 sub-lists, try to export the first sub-list, it there is the problem, cut again this list in 2 sub-list, and so on.. until you have only one object left in the list.

Then maybe in this object you'll be able to easily locate the problematic vertex...

Well, the box43 has the problematic vertex problem. It is a very big object, which I booleaned many things etc.

I think I am going to give it to hilaire9, he'll take a look at it.

KDL
the normal 0 happens when the vector is (0,0,0) (perpendicular at any plan, no longer normal)
This bug usually happens when there are points which aren't linked or linked in a weird way that ASE exporter can't understand (example: non-convex polies)

solution: I agree with jigebren, you'll have to split them little by little and find the wrong ones (redo them)
the other solution: each mesh->edit poly-> relax / triangulate

That's why I suggested to always check your files in ase exporter before it's too late, and to always texture the models after modeling them to see if they're texturable or not

as for definitions:
- vertex: assembly of vector of position (x,y,z) and a normal/distance vector
- vertex color/shade: the color of the vertex
- convex: check wikipedia

best regards ;)

ahh thanks kdl, now i know how to fix it ;)

I just throwed that 'box43'out of the window
and made a new one (took 2 hours) and booleaned the pooh out of it lmao
