Can anyone explain to me exactly how these work?

Redbook is used for Re-Volt to reciognize what soundtrack it should play for the selected track. I am not sure, because I never used it, since i never really opened the Re-Volt jewel case.

The MP3 is used for the mp3dec.asi to reciognize what soundtrack it should play. The decoder is only activated in the Demo version of Re-Volt, and in Phoenix R3, wich uses it to load custom and stock music on the 1207 version of Re-Volt.

Exists many RE-VOLT versions such as:
* Demos: those use the mp3 file
* 1.0 and 09.16: use the redbook
* 12.07: not using any of them
* DreamCast and PSX: use the Redbook

___________

- Demos are using the mp3 file, because they don't need redbook (which is built-in Re-Volt's original CD). Demo versions are not played using the cd, they don't require the CD, no cd=no redbook
- PC version: 1.0;09.16 and PSX/DC versions: those need CD, if not cracked, they won't launch without the CD. CD= secuRom check + Redbook music
- 12.07: has disabled the CD functions; so no CD required = no Redbook, but Acclaim didn't resetup the mp3decoding thing for a reason or another

___________

Now, will ask: Why The *.inf use both of them?
Acclaim Entertainment has one Re-Volt version, probably one code source, which wasn't edited since the first release.
so all of them use the same inf; maybe acclaim was too lazy to remove the mp3 :P

The 12.07 version plays music using the _inmm.ini program.

I'm less interested in knowing what these settings are for as in knowing how to use them. If the Demo alone uses the MP3 setting then I guess that's not very important, I'm sure most of us don't use the demo. I've figured out that you can specify one track to play over and over using the REDBOOK setting like this:

REDBOOK 3 3

Which will play track 3 over and over. But I can't figure out how its deciding which tracks to play if you specify "3 6", or "9 2". Does anyone know?
